Big news for Florida State Seminoles fans! The team just snagged a commitment from JUCO offensive lineman Steven Moore, adding some serious muscle to their roster for the 2026 season. Moore, previously committed to Arkansas State, has now flipped his allegiance to Florida State, and here's why it's a significant win.
Moore, standing tall at 6-foot-5 and weighing in at a hefty 320 pounds, is a force to be reckoned with. He currently plays for Garden City Community College, located in Bartlett, Tennessee. According to 247Sports Composite, Moore is ranked as the 96th best JUCO player in the nation, the 14th best offensive tackle, and the 21st best JUCO player in Tennessee. Interestingly, his ranking saw a jump from 82 to 85 by 247 in just one day, following news of his official visit to FSU.
But here's where it gets interesting: Moore initially committed to the Arkansas State Red Wolves on November 25th. However, a late official visit to Florida State quickly changed the game. The Seminoles beat out competition from the Oklahoma State Cowboys, led by new head coach Eric Morris. Moore had a total of 22 offers from lower FBS and some FCS schools. He also took official visits to East Carolina, Western Kentucky, Charlotte, and Fresno State. Even Oklahoma State offered him after his visit to Tallahassee.
Now, here's a potential point of discussion: Florida State is recruiting Moore to play offensive tackle, even though he's spent most of his career playing at the guard positions. This could mean a shift in his role or a strategic move by the coaching staff. With FSU set to lose a considerable amount of experience along the offensive line due to graduation, Moore will likely need to be ready to contribute quickly.
